Ieva Viese (b. 1987) is an interdisciplinary author who works across audiovisual media, text, and sculptural objects. Initially educated as a film critic and writer, she has explored in both scholarly research and artistic practice the relationships between words and images, text and adaptation, medium and message.
In 2023 she graduated from the program Movement. Image. Sound at the Art Academy of Latvia with her thesis installation In Saecula Saeculorum, which deconstructed the elements of animated film. In 2025 she completed her studies in the interdisciplinary program POST with the thesis work The Gaze Dissolves and Returns as Form.
Her artistic practice explores the principles of form, space, dimension, movement and repetition, and how they intertwine with human emotion. From sculptural objects, poetry, and moving image Ieva Viese weaves contemplative constellations.
